Crown King - Fun & Flowers

OK, so shoot me. It's another trip looking at flowers but this time we included a drive along dirt roads with lunch and fun at the end. So, technically it's a trip, not a wildflower expedition.

Crown King is not what you would call a large town but it is interesting and the folks have a sense of humor. If you read the history you'll see it has had it's share of fires, but usually they save the saloon. 1900 Town burned;saloon saved. History repeats itself in 1950, 1988 and 2003. We ate at The Mill, which has a history of it's own plus great service and good food. Hope it's there when we go back!

Way off in the distance more flowers. It was like this along the entire route

The Saloon - for over 100 years it has quenched fire fighters' thirst. I'm sure that has nothing to do with it's longevity
